President William Ruto urges Tanzanians to uphold peace and the rule of law
Following Tanzania’s presidential election held on October 29, 2025, Kenyan President William Ruto issued a message of solidarity and encouragement, calling on Tanzanians to remain peaceful and respect the rule of law.
In a statement shared on social media on November 3, 2025, Ruto said:
“I call upon the patriotic people of Tanzania to uphold peace and the rule of law.”
The election was won by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, securing her second term in office. While the National Electoral Commission declared the process free and fair, opposition groups raised concerns about transparency and alleged irregularities, leading to protests in several cities.
President Ruto emphasized Kenya’s commitment to regional cooperation and stability within the East African Community (EAC). He noted that peace is the foundation of development and urged Tanzanians to support the new leadership through dialogue and unity.
Kenya and Tanzania share strong ties in trade, diplomacy, and regional integration. Ruto’s message was seen as a gesture of goodwill and mutual respect, reinforcing the importance of peaceful transitions and democratic governance in the region.
