Ex-footballer Dani Alves now preaching in Girona
Dani Alves has become a pastor after being acquitted of sexual assault charges, dedicating his life to faith and forgiveness.
After spending 14 months in Brians 2 Prison in Spain, Brazilian football legend Dani Alves was acquitted in March 2025 of sexual assault allegations that had halted his career and cost him millions in earnings. Following his release, Alves has undergone a profound transformation, embracing evangelical Christianity and becoming a pastor at Elim Evangelical Church in Girona, Catalonia.
At 42 years old, Alves now preaches regularly, sharing his testimony of redemption and spiritual rebirth. His Instagram bio now reads “Disciple of Christ Jesus,” and he’s frequently seen quoting scripture and attending services led by Pastor Jimmy Martin.
In a viral video from a recent sermon, Alves told the congregation:
“You have to take the things of God seriously. I am proof of that. I made a pact with God.”
Despite the damage to his reputation and the loss of an estimated $65 million in career earnings, Alves has chosen not to pursue legal action against the woman who accused him. Instead, he says he has forgiven her, leaving vengeance to God.
This decision has sparked widespread conversation online, with many praising his spiritual maturity and public commitment to faith.
Once one of the most decorated footballers in history—with titles from Barcelona, PSG, Juventus, and Brazil’s national team. Alves now seeks to inspire others through ministry and personal testimony, rather than athletic achievement.
His story is being hailed as a powerful example of resilience, transformation, and grace.
