Police in Kisumu East have arrested four men and recovered a firearm believed to have been stolen from a police officer during the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga held last Sunday in Bondo, Siaya County.

The suspects were apprehended on Saturday afternoon at a hideout in the Mbeme area, approximately 60 kilometers from the burial site.

Detectives from Kasagam Police Station, acting on a tip-off from members of the public, raided the hideout and successfully recovered the stolen Jericho pistol, which had been loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition.

The firearm reportedly belonged to a General Service Unit (GSU) officer assigned to Governor Fernandes Barasa of Kakamega, who had attended the funeral at JOOUST grounds.

The four suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. Authorities have confirmed that they will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
