Uganda’s Muhoozi sends warm birthday wishes to Rwanda’s Paul Kagame
Uganda’s First Son and senior military officer Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has publicly wished President Paul Kagame of Rwanda a happy birthday, calling him a beacon of leadership for Rwanda, the region, and the continent.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Muhoozi wrote:
“Happy birthday Afande @PaulKagame. May you have many more. Thank you for your exemplary leadership that is a beacon for Rwanda, the region and Africa. Long live the friendship and strategic alliance between our two countries.”
The message underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Uganda and Rwanda, especially following years of diplomatic tension that saw border closures and trade disruptions. Muhoozi has played a key role in recent reconciliation efforts, often referring to Kagame as a mentor and close ally.
His birthday tribute is being interpreted by analysts as both personal and political—reaffirming the strategic alliance between the two nations.
